Job opportunity: Metro Pilots

Position Objective

Position Description and Remuneration

We are seeking pilots in each of the following locations: 

Queensland

The successful applicants will be contracted to work on a combination of fixed contract and charter flights based in Brisbane, Queensland. This typically requires only 3-4 days of work per week Monday to Friday and only very occasional weekend work, which offers applicants a generous work/life balance. All training costs are covered by the company with a 2-year return of service commitment required from successful applicants.

Western Australia 

The successful applicants will be contracted to work on a combination of fixed contract and charter flights based in Perth, Western Australia. This typically requires only 3-4 days of work per week Monday to Friday and only very occasional weekend work, which offers applicants a generous work/life balance. All training costs are covered by the company with a 2-year return of service commitment required from successful applicants.

Tasmania

The successful applicants will be contracted to work on a combination of fixed contract and charter flights based in Launceston, Tasmania. This typically requires working up to 5 days per week including one weekend per month, which offers applicants a generous work/life balance. All training costs are covered by the company with a 2-year return of service commitment required from successful applicants.

Renumeration

Sharp Airlines’ all-inclusive salary starts at approx. $100k per annum and is subject to experience, previous training and checking qualifications, and length of commitment. Sharp Airlines is willing to negotiate with potential applicants with higher levels of experience and can provide a package to suit individual needs. We endeavour to develop a family-friendly workplace where possible.

Minimum Requirements

  • CPL
  • Current Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating
  • 1,000 hours aeronautical experience
  • 250 hours multi-engine command (applicants with less experience may be considered)
  • 50 hours night experience
  • Hold an Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Dangerous Goods Awareness Course

Job Opportunity: Procurement and Logistics Supervisor

Department: Engineering
Reports to: General Manager Engineering (GME)
Location: Melbourne Airport West (MEBW)
Delegates: Stores Persons

Summary

The position is responsible for the effective and economic operation of the Sharp Airlines Stores facilities, Line station Stores and Stores Personnel in accordance with regulatory and company policy & procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities

The Procurement & Logistics Supervisor must:

  • Embrace & pro-actively practice the company’s Core Values and adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct


Business Improvement

  • Oversee and monitor the performance of Stores
  • Ensure requests are submitted for suppliers to be added to the list of approved suppliers for the supply of aeronautical products
  • Establish and maintain a supply management system that will monitor and ensure all activities carried out under the Sharp Aviation Maintenance, Approval Certificate are conducted in an effective manner
  • Constantly look for opportunities to improve performance and utilise the benefits of the stores systems
  • Establish and negotiate supplier agreements for rotables and consumables

Cost Efficiency

  • Ensure all purchasing action is carried out to the best advantage and that all suppliers and deliveries are executed with maximum efficiency and minimal cost
  • Source new suppliers based on service and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain effective relationships with Vendors
  • Identify and propose opportunities for cost-effective improvements to methods and procedures relating to areas of responsibility

Compliance

  • Ensure that the supply management system operates in accordance with procedures detailed in the Sharp Aviation Maintenance part 145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and Work Instruction manual (WIM)
  • Ensure any deficiencies noted during the conduct of the audits or surveillances are corrected within the required timeframe of the Compliance request
  • Ensure that adequate records of supply management system activities are kept in the company database or other system as applicable and is readily accessible to internal Sharp Aviation Engineering end-users whilst maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality
  • Update the records system in a timely manner to ensure data recorded is relevant and accurate
  • Ensure that the procurement and storage of aircraft components and aircraft materials are carried out in accordance with standards specified in documented procedures
  • All aeronautical products have approved documentation that complies with Part 42 of CASR

People & Culture

  • Ensure that all Stores staff carry out their functions and duties in an effective manner and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and/or Sharp Aviation Maintenance policy and procedures
  • In conjunction with the GME, ensure that the Stores roster is adequately manned
  • Foster professional and effective relationships with staff
  • Promote acceptable business and people ethics within the company

Customer Service

  • Develop and monitor provisioning processes to meet upcoming requirements
  • Manage the distribution of aircraft components within the company
  • Monitor supplier performance

Communication

  • Prepare reports as required by the General Manager Engineering
  • Report to the General Manager Engineering on any factors which would indicate a deterioration in performance, or a breach in Regulatory Compliance on the part of a supplier

Safety

  • Provide leadership by example in identifying safety hazards and proactively pursue solutions to maintain a safe work environment
  • Ensure the necessary resources and equipment are freely available to staff to facilitate adherence to safe work procedures and compliance to relevant Workplace Health & Safety Legislation
  • Ensure staff understand their safety responsibilities and manage employee performance to meet relevant safety responsibilities
  • Promote adherence to policies and procedures, including monitoring of a safe working environment and safe systems of work for staff under their supervision
  • Ensure immediate reporting of safety hazards or incidents by staff to the Safety Department and that formal reports are submitted in a timely fashion
  • Assist the Safety Department by ensuring timely follow-up on required report comments, investigative recommendations and findings where relevant
  • Ensure that all practical steps are taken to ensure the safety of those involved in the workplace by identifying all hazards and eliminating, isolating or minimising such as appropriate
  • Ensure that adequate protection is available for stored items and that Stores security is maintained


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Stores persons


Key Performance Indicators

Key performance indicators include:

  • Maximisation of on-time performance and aircraft maintenance, as measured by relevant data
  • Minimisation of error and delays in engineering tasks
  • Minimisation of errors on all documentation
  • Engineering productivity, as measured by:
    • Safety and incident statistics
    • Budget performance and cost control measures
    • Maximisation of cost, efficiency and safety benefits
    • Achievement of company policy directives


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years in Senior Store persons position or higher
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite
  • Previous experience in Aviation industry
  • Previous Team Management Experience
  • Ability to obtain Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Submit to Sharp Airlines drug and alcohol testing

Desirable

  • Formal Warehouse and Inventory training
  • Dangerous Goods Management Training
  • Forklift license

Skills

  • Good communication, both written and verbal
  • Proven accuracy
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks

Personal Qualities

  • Self-motivated

Other information

This position involves:

  • A combination of office, warehouse, and hangar work
  • Ability to travel to stores locations, including Launceston
