Safety & Quality Manager

The Safety & Quality Manager is primarily responsible for the support of the Sharp Aviation Group Safety and Quality Department under the General Manager Safety & Quality Assurance (GMSQA). Portfolios include managing the Airline's safety, security and quality assurance management objectives and regulatory requirements (CASA, Workcover etc).

Note this position will be required to undertake an interview with CASA to support the alternate Quality Manager for the CAMO and alternate Quality & Safety Manager for the wholly owned Part 145 Organisation.

Job tasks and responsibilities:

  • Acting as the alternate Quality and Safety Manager in the absence of the General Manager Safety & Quality Assurance.
  • Conducting operational and quality assurance audits as requested by the GMSQA.
  • Assisting safety investigations and follow up as requested by the GMSQA.
  • Supporting Sharp Aviation Group key change management projects, taking into consideration the risk and change management processes to achieve the Group's corporate, compliance & safety objectives.
  • Supporting the function of document control oversight for the Sharp Aviation Group.
  • Producing and maintaining various Safety & Quality Department documents, promotional material (ie Safety Newsletter, Safety Bulletins/Safety Alerts).
  • Administering the safety management system database and management of company recency items, including processing incident and hazard reports.
  • Other safety & quality administration functions including development of safety meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Maintaining the Safety and Quality Department filing and document system.
  • Performing the assigned role within the Sharp Aviation Group Emergency Response Plan.
  • Demonstrating commitment to continuous improvement strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the GMSQA.

Skills and experience

The Safety & Quality Manager must have (mandatory):

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in quality management system activities, including audits.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in safety management, within the transport industry (aviation context preferred).
  • Sound understanding of current CASA, Work Cover Authorities and Security legislative framework.
  • Excellent report writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of computer literacy, with sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and ability to learn Airline Software databases/programs.

Desired:

  • Sound technical knowledge in flying operations and, or aircraft airworthiness/maintenance.
  • Certificates, Licenses and Professional accreditations.

The Safety & Quality Manager must have (mandatory):

  • Lead Auditor accreditation or formal qualification in quality assurance.

Desired:

  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer experience.
  • Qualifications in aviation safety investigation.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Qualifications in Human Factors.
  • Qualifications in risk assessment and hazard identification.

Aircraft Trimmer

Sharp Aviation Maintenance are seeking applications from Experienced Trimmers / Interiors refurbishes to join our CASA Approved Maintenance Organisation located at Launceston Airport, Tasmania.

We are looking for a full-time staff member to maintain the Aircraft Cabin furnishings and equipment (carpets, Cabin Linings, Seat upholstery, etc) of our fleet of Metroliner SA227 aircraft. Knowledge and experience of Aircraft Interiors maintenance would be beneficial.
